WEDDING 10th JUNE DRUMCLIFF-CROMLEACH LODGE

In all my life living in Sligo (bar 4 odd years shooting F1 in England) I’d never been inside Drumcliff Church…until last Friday for Laura & Karl’s wedding! The church is synonymous for being the burial place of poet W.B Yeats (see champagne shot below!) but it’s also pretty cool to shoot inside, and outside also, not too many places around have a Celtic High Cross on the grounds!

I’d been looking forward to shooting this wedding for a while, as Laura is the sister of one of my best friends from my primary school days…some 20 years ago now! Time’s move on since but the family is as nice as they were back then, and their house must have one of the best views in Sligo, nested on the slopes of Benbulben…I don’t think I paid any attention to the views back when I was 10 years old though!

Somehow the weather held out all day, even with the threat of rain at some points, but we still ended up getting some great portraits around Lough Arrow, before heading up for the reception to nearby Cromleach Lodge. And with most of the portraits done, the only official one left was the group shot which we got done quite easily out the front…thanks to all the grooms-men & Nicolas from Cromleach for helping round the guests up!

With some really touching speeches, especially Laura’s dads one, & some funny moments courtesy of Richard, the best-man, , things were just getting going when the sun started to set & gave us an amazing sunset…just wish I had the Xpan for that!
