Stephanie & Paul, Wedding, Keadue to Kilronan Castle, Co.Roscommon.
I’ve been looking forward to Stephanie & Paul’s wedding since last year…about 11 months ago actually when I shot their engagement shoot in Lanzarote while we were at Stephanie’s twin sisters wedding! So this was a wedding of a few firsts for me…first time I’ve shot twin sisters’ weddings…first time driving to a wedding with an eclipse happening overhead…and Stephanie & Paul are also Half Dome in Yosemite hikers, making it all the way up to the top of the iconic mountain, like myself & my wife did in 2013!! And they’re 49ers fans too!
So after the sky had brightened up again after the eclipse, I got straight down to documenting the morning with the girls getting ready in Kilronan Castle. With plenty of moments to capture & details to shoot, and with loads of time to get some really great bridal portraits around the castle…both with myself & Stephanie making suggestions on photos. When a bride or groom suggests a shot they might have seen somewhere, I’ll usually try to do my own take on it…which is what I did with the portrait of Stephanie in the window in Kilronan.
On arriving at the church, I quickly photographed Paul & the guys whilst the last of the guests were making their way into the church at Keadue. It wasn’t long before the girls arrived and the ceremony began. It was probably one of the most relaxed ceremonies I’ve shot…in face the whole day was super chilled out and with the venues so close to each other, nothing was rushed & that always makes for a fantastic day.
As we stood out on the jetty near Kilronan castle, the wind was blowing really strong, so I gave up on that location pretty quickly, opting instead for the shelter around the castle grounds, and inside the castle. We got some good stuff around the place before getting the family pictures done. The only short sprinkling of rain during the day meant we split the family groups from outside to inside, but with a venue like Kilronan, inside is just as good!!
With a great entrance to the meal, some fab speeches by all then while we were waiting for the band to start, myself & the bride & groom grabbed one more shot, in the darkness with only the castle lights illuminating the background! Thankfully it wasn’t cold and the wind had all but died down!
Congratulations again Stephanie & Paul, and thank you so much for inviting me to your fab wedding!
On a separate note, I had the fantastic Steve Rogers helping & assisting me throughout the day at this wedding. You’ll see a couple of Steve’s photo’s below. There’s a reason I’ll recommend Steve to prospective clients if I’m already booked on their day…he is the ultimate people person and knows exactly what I’m looking for with pictures! Thanks again Steve.
