Majella & Shaun, Wedding, Cnoc Fola, Co.Donegal to Solis Lough Eske Castle, Donegal
So last Saturday’s wedding seen me driving a nice chunk of the Wild Atlantic Way from Sligo to northern Donegal…a route I’ve never been on but most certainly will be again…the scenery the further north you go is simply amazing! Even with some heavy passing showers & near gales blowing I had to pull over on an overlook to shoot the first picture below!
Majella & Shaun got married not far from this location actually, and after driving way past it first time round, I found it with the help of some locals and my good old fashioned paper map…something I never leave home without, and actually something I use when I go road tripping around the USA…well a USA state map on those occasions!!
With the wild weather outside, I kind of knew it wouldn’t be possible to get some images outside Majella’s home here unfortunately but I simply got down to capturing the details, including some super gorgeous Christian Louboutin shoes & documenting the rest of the morning preparations before getting a few more relaxed shots of Shaun & the guys at the church, where thankfully we were a little bit away from the coast so we had a little shelter from the wind…very similar to Strandhill where it’s pretty much always windy!
Following the multilingual ceremony (Cnoc Fola is very much in An Gaeltacht in Donegal) the weather had cleared and the sun was even shining allowing us to get some family portraits in the church grounds. And then we made the journey down to Solis Lough Eske Castle. On arrival at the castle, the weather had got even better with the winds easing off and letting us make the most of the grounds to get some beautiful relaxed portraits of the bride & groom & bridal party. I love shooting at Lough Eske as the grounds are fab and as it’s a location I don’t visit very often, it’s all pretty new to me! There’s a lot of mega corners of the gardens I haven’t even had a chance to shoot yet!!
Congratulations again Majella & Shaun, and thank you for having me photograph your wedding in a superb location!
