Donna & Josie, Wedding, Bangor Erris to Mulranny, Co.Mayo
Snow, rain, hail…not quite what you’d expect driving to Mayo in the middle of April…but that’s exactly what I had to drive through to get to Bangor Erris for Donna & Josie’s wedding on Saturday. But much like their engagement shoot during the week, we somehow managed to time it right & got every single picture we wanted outside!
And when you arrive to a scene like the first picture below, I honestly don’t think there’s anywhere else that day I’d have wanted to be shooting a wedding…simply amazing!
Start to finish, this wedding was great….relaxed (my kind of wedding!!), easy going, great people, and families that I’ve worked with before – I shot Josie’s brothers wedding last year (Lisa & Lawrence). Although the wedding was in a different church, like Lisa & Lawrence’s wedding, we did all the family photos inside the church after, along with Donna & Josie’s grandmothers present, which for me are some of the most important images to capture!
Following the family shots, we made the journey to Rosturk Castle just past Mulranny, by-passing some farmers & sheep along the way! I also shot Lisa & Lawrence’s photographs around the castle, but this location is so fabulous it wasn’t too difficult to capture some totally different angles! And the light was pretty amazing too..and again we managed to avoid the rain even though it looked like it was about to start, it somehow passed over & let us get our 15 minutes of relaxed portraits!
It was then back to Mulranny where the bride & groom were greeted to some trad music, made all the more special by Josie’s dad joining in! There’s always a great vibe in a reception area when there’s some trad music going on!
Congratulations again Donna & Josie! And thanks for having me document your wedding day!
