Caroline & Matthew, Wedding, Ballisodare Co.Sligo to Radisson, Sligo.
Where to start with last Saturday’s wedding! In the morning in the Radisson where Caroline & the girls were getting ready, I was privileged to hear Caroline’s grandmother tell the story of her own wedding almost 61 years ago! And she told it with so much detail almost like it was yesterday! I have to say that was one of the best stories I’ve ever heard in my 10 years of shooting weddings.
Onto the ceremony, where things were as relaxed as the morning. But there’s always something to get emotions going and that was Caroline & Matthew’s friend singing one song after communion – I’m still not sure who he was, but I’ve never heard anything like it before…he was simply awesome.
Finally, in my 10th year of shooting weddings, I got to go right into the middle of Sligo town to do some portraits! Caroline & Matthew wanted busy street scenes, natural walking shots around Rockwood in Sligo, and that’s exactly what we got! Even though town wasn’t as busy as normal due to the hot weather, we still got some really great shots, really different than normal wedding portraits! I had found the shot above earlier in the week showing the Yeats building & the river and knew it would look great having the bride & groom small in the frame on the right hand side…I just didn’t consider how busy it would be outside the pub there…but the people around Caroline & Matthew really add to the shot!
And just to finish the shoot off, we got a couple more portraits at both Caroline & Matthew’s favourite Sligo bay view locations – near Strandhill and at Rosses Point!
Congratulations again Caroline & Matthew, and thank you for having me capture your wedding in some really cool locations…and say hi to Andy Dufresne if you see him on the beach in Mexico!!
