Crea & Ryan, Wedding, Ballina Cathedral to Belleek Castle, Co.Mayo
I love my trips to Ballina to shoot weddings…have since 2007, still look forward to them! And Crea & Ryan’s was no different! Last Friday started with a nice relaxed, hot morning in Crea’s home where everybody was busy getting ready & preparing. A few quick bridal portraits, some shots of Ryan & the guys, then they got married in the cathedral! With a mixture of English & Irish guests, everybody strolled up to the Shibin pub around the corner where the Guinness was flowing out of the taps & thanks to the weather everybody was piled out onto the streets of the town!
Next we made the short drive to Belleek Castle where most of the reception seemed to take place outside, and where we were able to use the fab gardens to get some beautiful portraits are the trees, steps & arches! I’ve never worked around the gardens before, but they are pretty mega! And I knew from their engagement shoot, that Crea & Ryan would be easy to work with, and they were! I usually say that I get one couple a year that’s just very comfortable in front of the camera…this year, I’ve had a few already & another couple coming up soon!
I’ve been to a couple of English weddings, and I’ve shot one near where I used to live before (Northampton), and they always involve confetti! You don’t get many weddings in Ireland with confetti anymore, and it’s a shame because it makes for some awesome sequence of photos & it’s so much fun!! But with Crea & Ryan’s wedding being half Irish half English, we had a huge confetti line, probably involving a hundred or so people, it was definitely some of the most fun I’ve had shooting at a wedding all year!!
Congrats again Crea & Ryan, and thanks for inviting me to Ballina again to photograph your wedding!
