When Caroline & Matthew asked to do their location photo shoot in the middle of Sligo town along Rockwood Parade, I knew there was some great opportunities to be had. I had a pretty good idea of what they wanted, then as I usually will do, I offered my own advice to see if we could capture something else a little special & different.
I had found this angle for the shot above earlier in the week while in town. I wanted to show the old Yeats building & the river and knew it would look great having the bride & groom small in the frame on the right hand side…I just didn’t consider how busy it would be outside the pub there thanks to the heat of the day…but the people around Caroline & Matthew really add to the shot!
Normally I don’t scout locations in advance, but this is one situation where it paid off. We were walking nearby anyway, so a quick 2 minute detour to here didn’t make much time difference. Like a lot of images that work well, it’s a simple image, nothing complicated to take it, I just needed to find the right angle & spot that would let me take this image on a short telephoto lens, as this shot doesn’t work aswell on a wide angle lens.
