Fiona & Colm, Wedding, Keadue Co.Roscommon to Castle Dargan, Co.Sligo
Keadue like Ballintubber Abbey is a church I’ve been to loads of times. But more often than not, for couples living outside the town. A few years ago I finally shot a local Ballintubber Abbey wedding, and last Friday, I shot my first local Keadue wedding!
Fiona & Colm had fabulous weather for their engagement shoot in February, and for their wedding last Friday it looked like it would be sunshine & showers for most of the day but thankfully the showers cleared off in the afternoon, giving us some glorious March weather.
I love arriving at the brides house & finding Ann Young finishing up the girls’ make-up…she’s always so punctual and was actually apologising for not being finished, and this wasn’t even 11am yet! And because Fiona lived so close to the church, I was able to head up there to photograph Colm & the guys, just as the girls were sorting their dresses out. I could then head back down the road, capture a few bridal portraits and get back to the church again as the last of the guests were arriving! Getting ready so close to the church definitely has it’s plus points!!
The ceremony went off without a hitch, the weather held out for the most part as the bride & groom greeted their guests, then as it began to rain a little, we captured all the family shots on the alter, before leaving the church to sunshine & warmth again! Before heading to Castle Dargan, we stopped at the nearby lake for a few minutes for some relaxed portraits, before making the short journey to Ballygawley. And because it was so sunny when we arrived, we got a few more portraits done under the cherry blossoms…they’re blooming nice & early this year! I then left Fiona & Colm to enjoy their reception with their friends & families!
Congratulations again Fiona & Colm…have a fab honeymoon!
