Gabrielle & Andrew, Wedding, Ballymote Co.Sligo to The Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon
I’ve mentioned it before, but part of a photographers job on the wedding day is to do whatever comes up!!
I’m a wedding photographer, I take pictures! But on the day I’ll also try my hand at being a wedding planner & whatever else might be needed of me! Some things I do in the background because it makes my job a little easier, like drying the stems of the bouquets so we can actually get pictures without water getting on the girls dresses. I’ve also been needed to give the groomsmen a lift back to the reception after their vintage car broke down – 5 guys squeezed into a little Renault Clio was fun!! Timings on the day…yep that’s always in my mind, as I want to get the bride & groom back to their reception so they can enjoy it with their friends & family.
And then there’s the weather! I play a bit at being a weather forecaster too! Living & working in the north-west of Ireland you need too! And when it comes to surfing & outdoor photography, you get a kind of good at reading what’s coming in & how long you might have to get outside for pictures!! Sometimes because of the weather you just have to improvise on the photo-shoot location. Thankfully my clients trust me & it works out great regardless!
When the forecast, like last Friday, is terrible, you hope for the best & resign yourself to just getting on with things. But sometimes, it just works out…and the sun shines for a lot of the day somehow!! In between a few brief showers, Gabrielle & Andrew had a fab day and we were able to get some nice stuff beside Gabrielle’s home house in the morning (you know I really love those farm boreens!) and then next to the church after the ceremony, before stopping en-route to Carrick at the old gatehouse of Lough Key where even though it was raining, the bride & groom found themselves underneath the tree cover & stayed dry while I grabbed a few quick portraits!
Congratulations again Gabrielle & Andrew, and best wishes for the future!
