Niamh & Tomás, Wedding, Ballygar Co.Galway to Salthill Hotel Galway City
As I said in my previous post for the wedding the day before this one, I love working with the same families again, and same was true for Niamh & Tomás’ wedding in Galway! I had photographed Niamh’s sisters wedding back in 2011 and I found out after the ceremony when I recognised a few people, I had photographed Tomás’ sisters wedding back in 2014! It’s pretty cool that I’m linked to the 3 weddings from 2011, 2014, 2017!
I had a great welcome when I arrived at Niamh’s brothers house where all the preparations were happening, and there was plenty of excitement, emotions & loads of cool details to photograph. Following a few portraits inside, then outside, myself & the girls headed up to Niamh’s parents house nearby to get a few quick portraits before heading into Ballygar for the ceremony.
With the ceremony done, and the weather just about hanging on, everybody was gathered enjoying themselves outside the church while the bride & groom greeted everybody at the church entrance. I love this part of the wedding day as you can get some really great candid shots as nobody really notices until you already have the photograph you’re after!
Again as I mentioned a few weeks ago, during the wedding day I’m a part-time weather forecaster, and on this day, the forecast was bad, very bad with wind & torrential rain due to arrive at some point. Thankfully for all of us in Ballygar, it held off until after the ceremony when after a quick decision we found a nearby forest walk and decided to do the photographs there. And what a beautiful location too! The bridal party got their photos outside, and myself & Cathal on video were happy as it’s always easier to work outside than indoors! And as we made our way from Ballygar to Salthill, the heavens opened, the wind & rain arrived and I don’t think it stopped raining all night but at that stage the party was all happening indoors anyway! And with Galway’s win in the hurling the day after, I’m sure the party continued all weekend!
Congrats Niamh & Tomás!
