Áine & Darren, Wedding, Bohola to Knockranny Hotel, Westport, Co.Mayo
From the freezing temperatures of the week before, for Aine & Darren’s wedding Mayo wedding, we were greeted by sunshine for most of the morning, which was a welcome scene, especially when we were able to get some gorgeous portraits outside Aine’s home, and inside there was plenty of light which is always a photographers best friend. And even though we’re early into my 2018 wedding season, the image of Aine’s dad looking in at her last minute preparations will definitely be a favourite of mine when I finish this year…it’s the kind of image I dream of shooting in the morning at weddings.
For eleven years I had always just driven past Bohola on the way to Castlebar or Westport, and then finally I had a wedding in the church last December, then here again I was for another relaxed ceremony, with plenty of smiles, laughs & looks, which are some of my favourite moments to capture.
The image of Darren looking at Aine is one of those moments I look to capture at weddings. It doesn’t always happen, but I’m always keeping a eye out for it, that split second look. You can’t pose Darren’s look. A simple moment that’s all. But a look that says everything about why he’s marrying his bride that’s sitting next to him at the top of the church.
Congratulations again Áine & Darren, and thank you so much for having me document your wedding!
