Tara & David, Wedding, Kilronan Castle
Back track to end of November 2016 when I got to photograph an actual engagement in Co.Mayo. A standalone shoot for me as Tara & David live in the USA & were getting married there too. I thought nothing more of it. Fast forward to last weekend, and I got to capture Tara & David’s Irish blessing which took place in Kilronan Castle! I was absolutely delighted they asked me to capture their Irish part of their wedding celebration! Their eshoot was pretty awesome as you can see here – Broher engagement shoot.
With their wedding taking place in Chicago in December with temperatures around -20 degrees (wow!) I was delighted that their Irish wedding took place on the best day of the year so far! Sunny, relatively warm with Kilronan & it’s surrounding areas looking magnificent. Because the plan for the day was super relaxed with a blessing in the middle of the day, we had loads of time for some bride & groom couple portraits. To be honest, I’m not used to having so much time with a couple on a wedding day! So it was great we could take our time & use a bunch of locations in & around Kilronan Castle.
Also a first for me at this wedding, was having the evening reception take the form of the American reception time line. Whereas in Ireland the norm is sit down at 6:30ish, then have a 3/4/5 course meal then start dancing around 10/11pm. With the American time line, with the grand entrance of the bride & groom, they go straight into their first dance, then everybody joins in! And the dancing continues right after each course of the meal! I thought it was awesome! Not only is your first dance done when everybody is cheering anyway, but there’s always something going on for the entirety of the meal!
Congrats again Tara & David! And thank you again for trusting me to capture your Irish wedding part2!
