Elaine & Eugene, Engagement Shoot, Strandhill, Co.Sligo
When Elaine & Eugene asked me if I knew of any roads that were lined by trees, I had a quick think & came up with this farm lane near Strandhill. This was the first time I had been back there since I moved away from Strandhill and unfortunately a whole section of the tree lined road has been cleared, for some reason but thankfully there’s still plenty further along the road.
I’ve used this lane plenty of times for eshoots usually when shelter was needed but I almost forgot that the trees didn’t come into full bloom until April/May, and this year the leaves are a couple of weeks behind full bloom. But thankfully when we arrived here, the sun was shining & plenty of leaves were on the trees and much to Eugene’s delight, the lane was lined by hay & cows thanks to the farmer living nearby!
I can’t stress the importance of light & portraits enough. Light always trumps location, but when you have the two like here, you can get some beautiful relaxed portraits, which is all I’m after for engagement shoots. Open shade, backlit trees & leaves = perfection! And as you can see Elaine & Eugene were pretty mega in front of the camera too, and had wellies on hand for a couple of shots right at the end of the shoot!
