Sarah & Andrew, Wedding, Ballycastle to Broadhaven Bay Hotel, Belmullet, Co.Mayo
When you arrive into a small Irish village near the coast, and find this gorgeous coastal sign on the side of the road, you know it’s going to be a great day! Nestled along the real Wild Atlantic Way is Ballycastle, near the famous Downpatrick Head & it’s sea stack. What an absolutely gorgeous part of Mayo, and because of this wedding last weekend, I’m taking a day long road trip just to this area in a couple of days time to explore it’s coast a bit more!
For Sarah & Andrew’s wedding, it was a case of following some of the signs advice….take time to coast, don’t get tide down & make waves! It was windy at times, rained heavily at times, but we went with it, got all our pictures outside in an area I had checked out prior to the ceremony & visited Sarah’s grandparents home which has the most amazing view of the coast & Downpatrick Head. It didn’t matter that it had just started drizzling as thankfully we could still see the coast & a few umbrellas at the ready & we were done in 5 minutes anyway.
I have to say kudos as usual to Sinead Conway for the amazing music during the ceremony. For the past two weekends I’ve heard her singing during the ceremonies. Sinead sang at my own wedding in 2010, and it was simply fab to hear one of our own tunes she sang then, sung again at Sarah & Andrew’s wedding – Christy Moore’s ‘Black is the Colour’. I’m so lucky Niall from Complete Weddings had Sinead mic’d up for our wedding as we have some fabulous mp3’s of her singing that day!
Congratulations again Sarah & Andrew…and thanks for showing me this beautiful part of Mayo!
