Sharon & Glynn, Engagement Shoot, near Geevagh, Co.Sligo
When it snows in Ireland, it generally melts quite quick & there’s never enough time to get an engagement shoot done with a snowy background, that’s pretty much why in 13 years of photographing weddings, I’ve only ever had one snow engagement shoot. So when it dumped a few inches of the white stuff last Wednesday, I was really hoping to have a shoot, but my next shoot was a few days away, and I thought it would be all gone by then. Last Wednesday was a winter wonderland around where I live, so I did what I normally do when it snows, I went hiking up in the mountains and it was so mega…see the first picture below!
Fast forward to three days later, when Sharon & Glynn had their engagement shoot scheduled and for the most part I thought the snow was pretty much gone, and down on the low land it was, but Sharon & Glynn had other ideas and wanted to drive way up into the mountains above Geevagh, where Glynn straight up said, I better jump in their jeep as the snow was thick & roads real icy & my car wouldn’t make it up! Jackpot, exactly what I wanted to hear!
As soon as we drove off the main road, it was like driving into the North Pole, snow everywhere and really thick. And along the way, the grail of a snowy day, trees that were covered in it, which only happens if it’s snowed really hard, which it had. We spent almost two hours up there getting pictures here, there & everywhere! It was the kind of day I could have just kept shooting because it was so beautiful! It really was the perfect snow day, the snow was plentiful, the sun was out giving us gorgeous light, and it wasn’t cold at all!
But as it’s now February and as much as I do like the snow, I am looking forward to Sharon & Glynn’s wedding in late May because it should be a lot warmer!!
