Sarah & Glenn, Wedding, Ballina Cathedral to Great National Hotel, Ballina, Co.Mayo
I’ve gone through my history with shooting weddings in Ballina before, but long story short, my first couple whose wedding I photographed back in 2007, were from the area, and through word of mouth after that, I got to shoot & shoot & shoot gorgeous weddings in the town, almost as much if not more than in Sligo town where I’m from! Shooting weddings in Ballina is also great, as I’ll usually have some past wedding clients at these weddings, such as Crea & Ryan at Sarah & Glenn’s day (see their beautiful wedding here).
Back to last Saturday, and this was a Ballina town wedding, with Glenn getting ready in the hotel just two minutes outside of town, and Sarah getting ready at her home house right in town. So all locations super close which is great & logistically easy!!
On arrival at Sarah’s home in the morning, I loved that I got greeted by a little black panther…the family cat! I’m a cat guy so never going to pass up an opportunity to photograph the family cat! The rest of the morning & early afternoon was spent documenting the last of the make-up & hair getting done, all in great time, and every super relaxed with champagne going down real easy! I already had a plan for some bridal portraits in a lane near Sarah’s home which I seen on Google Maps…little did I know the lane was right next to the house…jackpot! It was a stunning location, and somewhere Sarah knows, so even better! With a little scaffolding & graffiti around, it was about composing properly, and bringing out the best of the lane…making it look a little Parisian with the lamp posts going off in the distance!
After the ceremony in Ballina cathedral, myself & the bridal party headed across the River Moy to Belleek Woods to capture a few relaxed portraits. On arrival, there was another local wedding getting pictures there, and that’s happened a few times over the years, but with somewhere like Belleek Woods, there’s plenty of space for everyone, and I’m always looking for something a little different, and for me it’s light, light, light! After Belleek, myself & Sarah & Glenn headed back to the lane next to Sarah home for a few quick portraits & we grabbed a shot on the footbridge down the road…that was something Sarah mentioned she’d like & it worked out great – shooting in the middle of towns can be great, like here.
Congratulations again Sarah & Glenn, and thank you for having me capture your wedding in some really cool locations!
