Katie & Ronan, Wedding, Carrickmacross to Castle Leslie Estate, Co.Monaghan
Katie & Ronan absolutely lucked out on one of the best days weather for their engagement shoot back in April when I played tour guide in and around Strandhill. The weather for their wedding day wasn’t as nice but the constant deluge of heavy rain that I was expecting all day long actually must have passed us by as it wasn’t too bad and gave us and the mix of American and Irish guests a typical Irish day in the summer, sunshine with showers!
With the bride and bridesmaids getting ready in one house near Castle Leslie and the groom and groomsmen getting ready in a house right behind, I was able to get both sides of the aisle getting ready and capture the guys all dressed and ready before I concentrated fully on Katie and her seven bridesmaids…a large bridal party for sure, but still not my biggest I’ve ever shot!
Following a 30 minute sat nav drive to the nearby town of Carrickmacross…anyone who knows me knows it’s very unusual for me to use sat nav, even if I do a 3000 mile road trip in the USA, I’ll rarely use sat nav, but these Monaghan roads were totally unfamiliar to me! I did have my trusty paper maps to back me up in case though!! Dark skies greeted us at the church but the rain was holding off, as it did for most of the rest of the day! After the ceremony, the guests were able to gather outside the church while the bride & groom greeted the congregation before we all headed off in convoy back to Castle Leslie.
This was my first time at Castle Leslie Estate, and it was an absolute pleasure working there. I love working in new places as you get there with totally fresh eyes and everything is new. It didn’t take long to see that the castle had an abundance of amazing spots, more than I’d ever have time for at one wedding! Thankfully we got outside though with Paul the manager leading the way and totally understanding it was a priority to get some pictures while it wasn’t raining. As nice as the grounds were, inside would have totally worked for pictures also as there were some great spots if it was necessary! But I do have to say it was nice to be able to work outside, but then get all the family pictures inside.
Enough of the rambling from me! Have a peek at the amazing day Katie & Ronan had at Castle Leslie Estate, including the coverage of the speeches and dancing! If you are thinking about having your wedding at Castle Leslie Estate please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your wedding photography!
Congrats again Katie & Ronan. It was a pleasure working with you both & all your American & Irish friends & families!
