BEHIND THE IMAGE

This shot below is one of my favourite recessional aisle shots from 2015. And again it came out of the fact that lots of guests were taking pictures of the bride & groom at the same time as myself – you can read about my thoughts on unplugged weddings here. Simply put, I would not have got this image if this was an unplugged wedding!

I started taking pictures of the recessional right as the bride & groom started walking, so I have the full length portraits, unobstructed, but it’s this image I love just as the couple hit the midway point when people started stepping into the aisle to get their own pictures & congratulate them at the same time! I knew I had the full length images I needed so I just kept shooting, concentrating on a more tighter crop. Using manual focus I was able to keep the bride & groom in focus and just blur out the guests.

As always what makes this image is the couples expression…natural, real, totally unforced. It’s why I love shooting processional & recessional images from the opposite end of the aisle…you never know what’s going to happen to get real moments!
