To get behind the image of this shot above from Crea & Ryanâs wedding from Ballina last August, is to get in the mindset of one of the greatest photographers ever, Robert Capa, who said âIf your pictures arenât good enough, you arenât close enough.â So for Crea & Ryanâs reception which had one of the longest lines of confetti throwing Iâve ever seen, I just got in as close as possible to capture the excitement & confetti going everywhere, including all over myself! For this shot, you want to show the people as much as possible, the confetti, the excitement and of course the bride & groom, all while walking backwards, focusing manually (because the confetti confuses the camera autofocus) and basically trying to capture it all while not getting in the way! This sequence of shots is definitely some of the most fun shots I took all last year, and a lot of that is down to the fact, Irish weddings donât have a lot of confetti any more, which is a shameâŠalthough I didnât envy the hotel staff cleaning up afterward!
So hereâs a questionâŠwould you have a confetti line at your wedding reception? Let me know by filling in the comment section below!
