Josephine & James, Wedding, Mullinabreena Co.Sligo to Castle Dargan
As the sun set on 2019, myself, Josephine & James managed to score a little bit of that last bit of sunshine! It was a fleeting few minutes but thankfully, they trusted me to get some relaxed portraits quickly, while the light was simply amazing!
What a fabulous end to the year…what a wedding to finish with! Josephine & James’ engagement shoot was on a sunny beach in Strandhill, and we lucked out again with some decent weather for their wedding! Starting across the field from the church at Josephine’s home, it was all relaxed and even though the family had done this already this year with Janette getting married in April, as is customary with weddings, things always get left to the last minute…but that’s how weddings roll and with the church so close and the earlier start time of 12:30, there was no need to panic! Everyone was ready on time, everything got done!
Following the ceremony and a few family photos on the alter, we made our way towards Castle Dargan, stopping for a few minutes outside the gate house at Markree Castle to grab a few quick portraits. It was a nice way to mix up the shots, as we had planned to grab a few more at Castle Dargan, and we were lucky that the sun popped out for us to give them a very different feel to the Markree ones! Once the relaxed portraits were done it was down to enjoying the reception with their guests.
What can sometimes be tricky with a winter wedding is getting guests outside, and that was one of my tasks to get two lines of people with sparklers. Little did I know, pretty much every single guest came outside giving us the longest two lines ever! I love these moments also as everybody has fun and just cheers on the bride & groom!
I have to say the band Josephine & James chose, Harlequin, were simply amazing! They were so good, the bride & groom never left the dance floor from the moment they did their first dance right up until everybody went outside for midnight & the new year celebrations with fireworks included! And they were so good, I’d almost get married again just to have them play! Phenomenal band…and I think you can see that in the images below!
Congratulations again Josephine & James! Thank you so much for having me document your wedding from 2019 into the start of 2020!
Stay tuned for a Best of 2019 series! There’s probably going to be a lot of images, and maybe two posts to get through them!! And because 2019 was the last year of the decade, I’m going to go through nearly every wedding from 2010 through 2019 and pick out my all time favourites of the decade…that might take a few weeks, but stay tuned!
