Shannon & Patrick, Wedding, Markree Castle
Words from Shannon – “For a wedding where literally EVERYTHING you could possibly imagine went wrong, feels good to know I got one thing right. And by that I mean our photographer.” These words are why after shooting almost 500 weddings, I still love shooting them! And yes, I’m missing them now and will do in the next couple of months, but hopefully by summer, we’ll get back to some kind of normality, and there’ll be plenty more days like Shannon and Patrick’s!
It’s hard to organise a wedding from another country. It’s hard when the groom breaks an ankle a month or so before the wedding. It’s almost unthinkable, in our lifetime anyway, where the world is on the brink of a shutdown because of a virus. Through all this, Shannon and Patrick and quite a few of their friends and family made it over to Markree for their wedding. Arnold Schwarzenegger said it best – “When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength”.
From the moment I arrived at Markree, I just got down to capturing what was going on, documenting the last bits of preparation, chatting with everybody as I hadn’t met anyone prior, this was a booking done via email! Relaxed candids, some great details shots – how can I ever top the wedding boots shot? That’s what I was after, and that’s what the couple were after. It was later in the day before they had a few ideas during the evening, that challenged me, but both the bride and groom were awesome, all day long. For a guy who couldn’t put anyway weight on his foot, Patrick certainly got around, and didn’t mind where we got photos…and thankfully throughout all this, Markree and Sligo put on a fabulous show, with gorgeous sunny weather!
Congrats again Shannon & Patrick…and thank you so much for trusting me and having me at your wedding! Stay safe!
