Grace & Jimmy, Engagement Shoot, Keem Beach & Keel Beach, Achill Island, Co.Mayo
I had known this shoot in Achill Island was coming up for a while, but with the Covid19 issues, it was inevitably postponed a bit. So when I finally got out to Achill to meet Grace & Jimmy last week, in any normal year this would probably be my 25th or 30th engagement shoot of the year…this year, 2020, this was eshoot number 3!!
Not too worry! Having checked the weather and made the call about doing the shoot early in the morning to avoid the busiest tourist times, we wandered around the cliffs above Keem Bay before heading down to the beach. I’m lucky to go to the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas every so often, and I have to say, the sand on Keem Beach is the whitest I’ve ever seen outside of Exuma! It’s simply stunning there, and I’m already looking forward to coming back in the autumn to kayak around the bay! Usually you can increase saturation in a photograph to bring out the colours in a scene even more, but on this occasion, looking down on Keem Beach, the aqua coloured water was even more vivid in real life.
Following the shoot on Keem Beach, we made the shot car journey up and over the huge hill the leads out of Keem Bay, to Keel Beach, to get some shots with the stunning cliffs in the background. And with me being a fan of coastal grass, I had to get a couple of shots to finish the shoot in amongst it! There’s just something truly coastal about it, whether you’re in Ireland, Exuma, or California by the coast, there’s always some coastal grass!!
Thanks again Grace & Jimmy, for showing me your part of Achill!
