Enya & Steve, Wedding
You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what happens.
While the above quote isn’t always applicable to a wedding, this year, it most certainly is! Again like Mairead & Fergus last month, Enya & Steve had originally postponed to early next year, but again decided to just go for it & get married with some family & friends present. And even though I’ve done very little work this year, it was great to get shooting again, and be part of this beautiful wedding. I have to say, I’m loving these types of wedding…house to church to location shoot to marquee in the house!
One thing that I love about my job is that I get to work with a lot of people from all over Ireland, and the world too, and because of this, I get to show off the best parts of Sligo to people who might never see these spots, especially the best parts of Strandhill, that are slightly off the beaten path! And even though Enya & Steve are from Sligo, they had never been to the part of Rosses Point where I brought them for pictures! They just said they wanted to get some pictures in the Point, and for me, this is my go to place, because of the variation of the backgrounds, the walking path, the light works great even in full sunshine, and it’s quieter than the main beach! And it worked perfectly for the only picture request that the couple asked for – themselves alone looking out to sea (see picture above!).
So the church went fab, a bit of champagne afterwards in the sunshine, then we headed out to Rosses Point for a little bit, and back to their home for the reception, where because the weather was pretty stunning, everyone was outside enjoying themselves! The speeches went great, a little emotional, even more so because of the small numbers and intimacy of the day. As the sun set in the evening, the garden fire pits were sparked up to keep warm but as I left everybody was still outside! That’s what a great wedding day with family & friends is all about!
Congratulations again Enya & Steve! Thanks so much for having me photograph your wedding. I do appreciate even though I was originally booked for your date, that you kept my details and checked on the off chance I had a postponement due to Covid19. It was a real pleasure covering the day for you both!
