Mairead & Paul, Wedding, Sooey to Markree Castle

As the year winds down, I’ve been lucky enough to have a few intimate weddings in December. It was a honour for me to photograph Mairead & Paul’s wedding a couple of weeks ago, as I’ve previously photographed both of Mairead’s sisters weddings before, back in 2008 & 2017! I’m always humbled when I get to work with the same families again, now more than ever when guest numbers are very small, it’s almost like I’m part of the family being at their wedding.

December is always a tricky time to photograph weddings, it gets dark so early and this December has pretty much been nothing but rain so it’s almost always dark! With winter weddings, it’s all about finding every little bit of natural light you can, and when that disappears around 4pm, it’s time to get creative to find light! Markree Castle has loads of nooks & crannies so it was about picking a couple of spots and getting some relaxed portraits before relaxing with the families in the warmth of the Irish castle.
