Aine & Gareth, Engagement Shoot, Hazelwood, Co.Sligo

April 2020, we’re in the middle of the toughest restrictions, so there was absolutely no chance to taking pictures of a bluebell forest, let alone having an engagement shoot in the middle of them. Fast forward to April 2021, and because of the continuing restrictions, it looked like another year would pass by without a blue forest shoot. Then at the last minute, Aine & Gareth said their wedding in May would be going ahead and it would be great to get their engagement shoot done. Whoop whoop and with stunning weather on tap, there was only one area that even came into consideration as it gave us the best light on a sunny day, stunning patches of bluebells, and having snooped around a few days earlier, I even found some cherry blossom trees nearby…blues and pinks in the same shoot, jackpot!

We strolled around Hazelwood, in between the dappled light surrounded by new super vibrant tree leaves, found some old tree trunks to sit on, got in amongst the bluebells without trampling on them, then stood at the side of a road and shot with some cherry blossom trees in the background, all while getting some nice relaxed portraits in the warmth of the Sligo sunshine. And of course no bluebell shoot would be complete these days without trying out a panoramic portrait…that came out beautiful and of course is meant to be seen big, very big!!
