If there was any silver lining at all from the forced break from weddings due to the Covid pandemic, it’s that when restrictions have eased a little, both in 2020 and more so lately in 2021, I’ve been able to do a lot more family lifestyle photo shoots around Sligo and beyond.
On any normal year with weddings, I’d have been just too busy to do very many. I always did a few, generally only for couples I’ve worked with before, but these past few months, I’ve been able to work with a lot more families. And it’s been great…great for me to get photographing people again, and great for families to get some relaxed portraits, and see that not all family photos are forced, sitting down in front of the camera against a white background!
It takes time for my wedding couples to get used to me, this stranger with a camera…kids even more so! So if the kids are happier playing around, running around, doing what they do, they get used to the camera a lot quicker then, and like adults, they stop thinking about it and I’m able to capture genuine laughter and smiles. Of course we always get the classic family shot with everybody looking at me, but the relaxed stuff is what I find people really want!
If you’re interested in one of these Sligo family photo shoots, please do not hesitate to contact me and I can send on more details!
