WEDDING DAY GUIDES

wedding photographer loughrynnPlanning a wedding when you haven’t done it before is a pretty daunting task! And how a wedding day goes is very different being a bride & groom compared to being a guest or even a bridesmaid! I’ve put together some wedding day guides that might help, both in terms of wedding photography on the day itself and how the day flows!

I’m married over 12 years, so I’ve been there, planning & getting married. But I’ve also had the opportunity to photograph almost 600 weddings so have seen almost everything that happens & that can happen on a wedding day!

From all the suppliers & vendors that help a couple on a wedding, there’s only two that are there nearly all day, that are around the couple for most of the day, that’s the videographer if you have one, and the photographer. Nobody else, not your make-up artist, not your florist, not your wedding coordinator in the reception. We see it all – we’re there in the mornings, we have to make the same journey to the ceremony venue, we know how long ceremonies typically take, we know how long a journey to the reception will be and of course we’re there at the reception.

Of course every photographer is different in how they work, some are still bossy (I hear that from other couples still), some are quiet, some work quick, some spend hours on detail shots, some take over the day. We’re all different!

Through these guides you’ll get a good understanding of how I work – I like to photograph in the background, but knowing what I need to capture I’m well able to get people lined up & organised without shouting & taking over the day. I shoot a mix of documentary real moments, mixed in with relaxed portraits of the bride & groom, bridal party. Again, these are usually captured in 20 minutes or so. I always tell my couples I’m a wedding photographer, not just a bride & groom photographer, I want to capture your whole day, show everyone that was at your wedding. We’ll get pictures of the yourselves of course, but you don’t need 6oo images of just the bride & groom! You’ll be planning your wedding & looking forward to it long enough, so when the day is finally here, you want to spend it with family & friends, not just your photographer!

I hope you find these guides useful! And of course if you want to discuss your wedding photography needs? Contact Mark here.
