As a Sligo photographer for over twenty years…granted I was a Sligo photographer based in the UK for the first part of my career shooting motorsports and Formula 1, but being based in Sligo for the past 17 years, I’ve always done a year end retrospective, or pictures of the year, typically including only weddings, as that’s what I covered almost 100% for 16 years. As we near the end of 2023 though, I’ve shot a little more non wedding work this year and this post is a small selection of some of my favourite images I’ve shot.

Years ago when I was dreaming of becoming a Formula 1 photographer, the magazine that influenced me, F1-Racing, always did a year in review with their staff photographers, calling it Pictures of the Year, and it was always something that I looked forward to and naturally soaked in as I dreamed of doing that job one day – 3 end of year issues is what it took me to get there, 1999, 2000, 2001…by the time 2002 end of year came out I was already working in the industry and on the way!
