Congratulations Amelie & Brendan!
Iāve been photographing weddings in Castle Dargan since 2008 I think. I got married myself in Castle Dargan so thatās saying something! Itās a venue thatās surrounded by stunning areas for photographs, without leaving the main reception area! Get your pictures done quickly where youāre guests can see you and know where you are so you ultimately get to spend more time with themā¦thatās what a wedding is all about isnāt it? Some days itās wet unfortunately but thereās still areas where thereās some natural light and we can still get lovely pictures but staying dry!
Iāve photographed plenty of mixed nationality weddings, but this was my first German-Irish wedding! Back in my Formula 1 days, I had the opportunity, usually twice a year, to go to Germany for the two Formula 1 races there, in Hockenheim and the Nurburgring, at the height of Michael Schumacherās dominance in the series. While it never seemed to have the āglamourā of somewhere like Italy, I absolutely loved going to Germany.
And Amelie & Brendanās wedding was just as good as those times! Coming back after my dadās passing could have been stressful and tricky and even more so with the forecast of non-stop rain, but this couple, their families & friends from near & far were great to work with, plenty of fun & just got on with enjoying their day, no matter how wet it was!
