I’ve been a wedding photographer in Sligo since 2007. In 2006 when I decided to move back to Ireland having finished up the 2006 Formula 1 season, I decided I was going to shoot weddings in a more relaxed manner than a lot of the photographers in & around the north-west of Ireland…this was 2006/2007 remember!! I was definitely the youngest wedding photographer then, and the style of my photography was going to be a mix of documentary, traditional but most importantly it was going to be relaxed and not take over the day. That’s what I did then, and it’s still what I do now!
These images are not really documentary, they’re the bride & groom’s portrait session but I like to call them relaxed portraits. They’re not stiff, they’re not overly posed, and I am capturing moments between moments! Like a genuine documentary moment, these moments even though just between the bride & groom, are real moments, real emotions…you can always tell the difference between a forced smile and one that’s absolutely pure and real! So have a look through some of these relaxed portraits. For the most part, it’s probably going to be one of these shots or a family picture that ends up on the walls of couples homes!
