How can you include pets at your wedding? I could list out all the ways in which you could include your pets and animals in your wedding but all that info is scattered throughout the web on wedding blogs. So instead, I’ll show a few of my favourite images from my years photographing weddings, that have included pets and animals of all kinds at some part of the couples wedding day!
When you have photographed over 500 weddings, you’ve seen a lot, but only once in all those weddings have I had a dog allowed in the actual church! That was Sinead & Rory’s wedding above!
The shot below is the only time I’ve had the Bestman walk the bride & groom’s dog up the aisle during the wedding processional. The Bestman was on form and took to the task much better than Ross Gellar from Friends during Phoebe’s wedding!!
Plenty of dogs and cats are around the houses in the morning during the preparations and I’m always on the look out for those super cute adorable moments, they are family after all!
Of course with animals about, anything can happen, such as Snoozers who is the little terrier relieving himself during some family photos below! From this image shot in West Sligo, he made his way around the web on sites such as the New York Post Online, Wedded Wonderland, Telegraph, The Sun, Daily Mail, Bored Panda and Huff Post! Not bad for such a little dog!
For bigger more unusual animals such as the prize bull below, it’s always a good idea to have the owner/handler on site to help take of any business before we get to taking some pictures with the bride and brides family!
Finally it’s not always possible to bring or have pets at the house or wedding on the day itself, there’s a lot going on after all. Engagement shoots are the perfect opportunity then to get some pictures with your fur babies! Nothing relaxes couples more than having their dog with them as they get their eshoot done!
