Emer & Kevin, Wedding, Sneem Co.Kerry
I’d been looking forward to this wedding for a long time. Then Covid happened of course so it got postponed a few times, like many other couples dates. But thankfully I was always free on the new date…even if my original plan for a three day trip to Kerry didn’t pan out because of other dates moving and suddenly I had a wedding scheduled the day before which would make for a very long drive the morning of!
I’d worked with Emer’s extended family before (I photographed two of her bridesmaids weddings) so it was superb to be able to work with Emer & Kevin again. Both Caroline & Stephanie’s weddings were fab so I knew this one would be relaxed, about having fun and yes, in a stunning location too! And the weather, a factor 30 day, everything played the game for us on this Saturday!
A beautiful church, great & very funny priest, amazing locations, and an outdoor reception at the Sneem Hotel, where it turns out my grandfather worked years & years ago…as a chef it turns out he worked at many of the venues I would photograph in, including Mulranny the scene of my very first wedding in 2007 and I remember when I told him where I was doing that wedding and he told me that he had worked there before.
I could ramble on about the scenery but just look at some of the images below, including plenty of panoramic shots. These spots simply required me working with three cameras on the day to show off the beauty of Kerry! The panoramic camera doesn’t come out very often but I really had no choice and these images came out amazing and as I’ve said before, these shots are made for the wall, printed large! And thanks to Brendan from the Sneem Seaweed Baths for the mega shot of me up on the cliffs as I photographed Emer & Kevin walking along the stunning road around the Gleesk Pier!
Thanks also to Bartek Witek, a Kerry wedding photographer I’ve known online since 2009 I think, but had never met until this wedding day. Making such a long drive on the morning of a wedding had me thinking a few things and in case of something untoward happening en route, Bartek was my back up and photographed alongside me all day.
Congratulations again Emer & Kevin! Thanks for everything on the day of your fab wedding, from trying unknown locations, to braving the few minutes at twilight and those midges eating us alive!
