Lough Eske Castle has this grand staircase that I’ve never been able to photograph well, until Lisa & her dad made the short walk from the preparation room upstairs to the ceremony downstairs in the castle. As soon as I arrived in the morning, I knew I was getting this shot with the staircase, I just didn’t know how it would turn out, who would be in it. And that’s the essence of wedding photography right there, you’ve just got to put yourself into the right position & pray to the photo gods…and sometimes they deliver!

Right before this images was taken, the whole crew of bridesmaids, family members, flowergirls, wedding coordinators were all walking down the stairs. I prayed that Lisa & her dad would take a moment, take their time and end up on the stairs alone…they did, and I was ready & in position to just capture it, with the perfectly symmetrical staircase and nice backlighting just adding to the image.

Lisa & her proud father…It’s the look, the split moment. That’s everything. Dad looking proudly at his daughter just before she gets married. As somebody who has recently lost their own father, it’s these moments I gravitate to even more now, family moments.
